Origins – A Project by Ordinary Architecture

In Summer 2016, I commissioned Charles Holland and Elly Ward of Ordinary Architecture to create a series of interventions around the Royal Academy’s historic buildings, exploring the mythological nature of the origins of architecture. Coinciding with a moment when much of the RA’s collections were off-site, the interventions – which varied from large-scale murals, to a playful new classical order – established a dialogue with the RA’s buildings and the ways they have been made to carry stories and ideas over time.
